The skiing and riding at Aspen/Snowmass is only getting better: $50 million in on-mountain improvements at Snowmass alone by 2010 means quicker lift rides and easier access. Introduced last season, the new Elk Camp Gondola makes quick work of the distance from the new base village to Elk Camp Meadows in less than ten minutes.  Combined with the Village Express six-pack and Sky Cab gondola, the lift network at Snowmass promises to whisk you up the mountain almost as fast as you can come down!  Other on-mountain upgrades for 2007-2008 include a new improved Snow Park Technologies terrain park and halfpipe area and the Elk Camp Meadows learning area, while future projects such as the new Elk Camp Meadows activity center and the new Sam's Knob restaurant are just a season away.

The Snowmass skiing experience is more than just about skiing or riding one magnificent mountain.  Even though you’ll want to experience the Snowmass renaissance, you still have three other Aspen mountains daring you to meet a variety of skiing challenges within a 20-minute drive:

  • Aspen Mountain – Serving up untold variations of double-black, cruisers and glades for skiers and snowboarders, Aspen Mountain rises an impressive 3,267 feet from the heart of downtown Aspen.
  • Aspen Highlands – Aspen Highlands is the locals' favorite, whether for its extreme terrain, groomed cruisers or breathtaking views of the Maroon Bells.
  • Buttermilk – Home of the ESPN Winter X Games through 2010 Buttermilk also welcomes beginners.  Less experienced riders cruise wide, rolling trails while experts jibe in the new Snow Park Technologies (SPT) terrain park.
